Bats Hanging Like Humans

bat uniqueBats are animals who enjoy an evening out. In the move, these animals rely more on sound than his eyes. Ability to recognize the environment was very sharp and unique. Because of the uniqueness of that, there are researchers who are interested in doing research on bats.

A study led by Silke Voigt-Heucke of The Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, Berlin found that bats recognize individual sounds the like are known. This is similar to humans recognize the voice of the people who are known in the vicinity.

The study was conducted in Panama who show that bats can identify members of their own species. The researchers tested the bat species to respond Noctilio albiventris echolocation calls of other individuals that are familiar and unfamiliar.

Bats will respond to calls unknown individuals who are familiar with complex behavior. For example, with wings stretching out or expose the scent from glands located in their armpits. These bats will react more frequently if the call comes from a previously unknown bat.

This research collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology at the University of Vienna and the University of Bern. The researchers concluded, with ultrasonic sound waves are not audible to the human ear, it turns out that bats communicate with each other to know each other. (*)
